Amanda Bossard, fresh out of Anchorage High School, in 1992 started studying marine biology in 1992. Bossard started her commercial fishing career in 1999, after she was hired on board the F/V Sunset. This 65' schooner, which was transformed into the role of a salmon tender is owned by Murat Aritan. He has been a commercial fisherman since 1993. Bossard has been married Aritan. The couple has joined forces and are claiming their respective fields. Both are advocates conservation of sustainable, renewable seafood resources. Otolith is a wholesale direct seafood company, was established in the year 2007 by Bella Bossard (age three), Andre Bossard (1 year old) and Bossard's mother. Bossard had returned to Philadelphia after the birth of her two children. Bossard in 2007, mother of two children Bella aged 3 and Andre 1. She returned to Philadelphia after a trip from Canada, launched Otolith as a wholesale direct market seafood distributor. Bossard with her son Andre 10, and Isabella 12 make their annual return to Southeast Alaska as deckhands to catch wild salmon in summer. For two months, Bossard and her daughter Isabella utilize hooks and lines to catch their desired salmon. Aritan will then sell their seafood locally to processors.
